"Philanthropy is commendable, but it must not cause the philanthropist to overlook the economic injustice that makes philanthropy necessary."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

things that happened that were cool today but i didn't have my camera.

1. seeing the locker room of the timberwolves basketball team. i mean, not that impressive to me (nor some of the other fifth graders) but it was cool to see all of that mahogany, i guess. and that one player's gigantic shoes.

2. dancing at the CSS show, calling denise to let her and caroline hear. going/hanging out afterwards with ms. jamie (her getting locked out of her apartment.)

3. picnic of basil-garlic chicken et. al. and cat-on-a-leash at lake harriet, with john on his day de hooky.

4. not cool, but the twins game, where they lost to the white sox thereby not pulling into the lead of their division.

Woman chases rampaging auto!

"Woman" refers to my aunt; this article is from (edit) the mid-to-late '70s (/edit) and stuck to my fridge door. She basically made a split-second decision to pursue and ultimately catch an intoxicated 20 year-old that ran into her garage door, in her own vehicle.

"'I was afraid he would ram my car, but he didn't,'" she said. 'Some people looked out of their house and I hollered, 'Call the police,' and I guess they did."

Axl Feels My Pain.

"I'm late to everything. I've always wanted to have it written in my will that when I die, the coffin shows up a half hour late and says on the side, like in gold, 'Sorry I'm Late'."

Sweet Bike Graph.

Really Pritty Photo Shoot.

So I read food blogs in a half-hearted way, and a lot of them have gorgeous pictures of the food like this one. This is my slacker comeback; Punch Pizza at 11:30 in the morning this past Saturday. The place is actually the best I've been to for pizza here in le twin cities (and obviously excluding Antonio's in Amherst). The crust of these are thin and soft and cooked fast in an 800 degree (F) oven. Also, my boss Alberto is from Naples and swears by it, which may count for something; either way, anywhere where I can combine pizza and a photoshoot is fine by me:

So happy, so in love:

The sparks were obviously flying:

Stuff.

Here's some photos that have sat in my camera getting old and pissed, with quotes:

So I met a lobster on New Year's Eve 2008, and ate the thing as MN family tradition.

Before that, in October 2007, I went to Ireland...

...and before that, I visited Chicago a few times which I tend to do pretty often and anytime.

I like cats,

-baseball,

-friends,

-and cats.
...

I'm fifty.

Just kidding.

I used to work at the corporate office here:

And now I work here:

(much more my style.)

I'm working on writing non-fiction too, so I think this blog will aid in that, abet in the verbal throw-up. Fierce.

re: work

"Oftentimes they were asleep, but occasionally might be heard talking together, in voices between speech and a snore, and with that lack of energy that distinguishes the occupants of alms-houses, and all other human beings who depend for subsistence on charity, on monopolized labor, or anything else but their own independent exertions."

-Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter, 1850

A little extreme, but still true for the most part in 2008. Too bad the book reads so terribly.
