Angelina Jolie's Double Masectomy

Tears, people.  And yes, it was a radical choice, but what a brave one all the same.  Her mom died from breast cancer when she was 56, so yeah.  Rock on, sheila.

"Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of. "

PS, she also talks about the prohibitively high cost of genetic testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 (the genes that put you at a much higher risk for breast and ovarian cancer than those without it) which I think is an important part of the conversation too.

Maybe Everything Isn't Hopeless Bullshit!

Beautiful, honest blog post on depression - this girl gets it.  From this other girl's blog, who also gets it.  I don't know if I've ever been depressed-depressed, but I have gone through bouts of extreme blue-ness that I'm not fully aware of until I look back on them, and I can honestly say that reading this kind of feels like getting to the root of it.

Our Little Guy...

...with his cone on. Poor bastard had to get a wart on his snout surgically removed and right after we were gone for three days, in Boston/Salem. So glad he's doing much better than he was in this pic finally!

Well gosh, I think I like that:

"I don’t want to argue about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. I’d rather talk about the joy they were feeling that gave way to the dance. My hope is that all faiths can stop fighting over who is in and who is out and get down to alleviating poverty, discrimination, and hopelessness."
