Lick Yrself Clean
Of course, about halfway through I realized I was going on with things as per usual, bobbin' my head to it, and am now just wondering how they got through the recording without laughing (a girl around 4:50 aaalmost loses it. Okay, editing.) I guess we can all just thank drugs that this even exists. Cheers!

The Saints
I don't know if you can tell but that pink blob is a pig in a tutu and that guy in the cowboy hat sang a rollicking rendition of "You Ain't Nothin' But a Houndog" (before "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", thankfully) during the 7th inning stretch of the game last night. Okay, you definitely couldn't tell the latter from this picture, but still. I think I might want season tickets.
PS, They won (it was a playoff game) in 11 innings 2-1, Billy Murray is a co-owner/the team psychologist, and patrons are allowed, no, encouraged, to bring their dogs into the park with them. W00f.

Treasures from Kris and Jeff's Garden

I went a little overboard on Monday and made a very large amount of red-skinned potato salad with some pesto I had frozen and the above green beans which is good for the soul but a little, well, heavy (especially when there's a mixing bowl-sized portion in the fridge staring you down, daring you to let the whole thing go bad.) Sigh. Guess what's for lunch today.

"Kitchenette Building" by Gwendolyn Brooks
We are things of dry hours and the involuntary plan,
Grayed in, and gray. "Dream" makes a giddy sound, not strong
Like "rent", "feeding a wife", "satisfying a man".
But could a dream sent up through onion fumes
Its white and violet, fight with fried potatoes
And yesterday's garbage ripening in the hall,
Flutter, or sing an aria down these rooms,
Even if we were willing to let it in,
Had time to warm it, keep it very clean,
Anticipate a message, let it begin?
We wonder. But not well! not for a minute!
Since Number Five is out of the bathroom now,
We think of lukewarm water, hope to get in it.
